Astaldi Group has worked in Algeria for over twenty years in the transport infrastructure and water sectors and has consolidated its presence in recent years by securing important contracts related to two of Algeria’s main railway links, the Saida-Moulay Slissen line (120 km) and the Mecheria-Redjem Demouche line (140km) as well as the Jijel road tunnel (620m) and the Oued Fodda-Khemis Miliana section of the East-West motorway. The latter is one of the most important works in progress in North Africa and will link Tunisia with Morocco upon completion. Astaldi boasts a great tradition in Algeria in the water sector having worked on the Hammam Debagh (1985-1990), Taksebt (1993-2001) and Kramis (2001-2005) dams. At the present moment, the Kerrada dam, the Hamma waterworks and the water system linking the cities of Akbou and Bejaia in Eastern area of Algiers are under construction.
Completed works
The Kramis Dam is a work of great importance for the Orano region in Algeria because it makes it possible to meet the local population’s water requirement and encourages the development of agriculture.
The Taksebt Dam offers an example of a project to collect and carry drinking water.
